The Our Lady of Peace Basketball Program participates in the Dupage Parochial Basketball Association (DPBA). The DPBA has 16 leagues that Our Lady of Peace participates in. The DuPage Parochial League (DPL) has four leagues, the 7th and 8th grade levels, both boys and girls. The Saint Mary’s League has four leagues, the 5th and 6th grade levels, both boys and girls. Each of the above eight leagues are considered “A” leagues. The remaining eight leagues form what is known as the DPL West, 5th through 8th grades, both boys and girls. The DPL West leagues are designed for “B” level players.
The basketball season begins in late October and runs until March. This season, the schedule has both boys’ and girls’ seasons running concurrently. The 7th and 8th graders start sooner than the 5th and 6th graders. Teams at the 6th, 7th, & 8th Grade levels play 12 regular season games; 5th grade teams play 10 regular season games. All teams participate in a post season championship tournament.
The basketball program is open to all eligible students in grades 5-8. The number of players per team is determined on a per grade basis depending on the number of available students. A “no cut policy” means that every child who wants to participate is placed on a team regardless of skill or experience. The students are then placed on a team that is commensurate with the student’s developmental level. Volunteer coaches who demonstrate qualified athletic leadership are selected by the athletic director.
OLP is growing quickly with our 3 and 4 year old preschool programs. They both fill up quickly. Be sure to register your child early to get a slot for next school year.
As partners in education at Our Lady of Peace Catholic School, God calls us as Parish, School, and Family to be the light of Christ to our students.
By nurturing their Faith, we provide a strong academic foundation anchored in Catholic Spirituality.
